​Alongside this internship, I was enrolled in an internship seminar (MONT 3303) that focused on weekly discussions of students’ individual internship experiences and explored the dynamics of French workplace culture and professional environments. While completing over 140 hours at Du Thé et Des Laines, a locally owned café in Montpellier, I worked closely with the owner and interacted daily with local clientele, supporting the café’s operations and customer experience. My responsibilities included serving tea, coffee, and meals, assisting with food preparation, and contributing to the smooth day-to-day functioning of a small business in a fully French-speaking environment. This role strengthened my conversational fluency and listening comprehension while developing my ability to communicate effectively across cultural and linguistic differences. Through this experience, I gained valuable insight into French customer service practices, small-business operations, and the importance of adaptability and cross-cultural communication when working in an international setting.
